Living for Today

I haven't seen it, but I hear there is a new movie out about the end of the world, based on the Aztec Calendar.  You know, I've read extensively so many different accounts and predictions as to when "the end" is coming, when "the rapture" will happen, when "the new age" begins.  Nostradomus, Edgar Cayce, Annie Bessant, so many other "psychics" and prophets of the ages. The myriad of accounts, claims and predictions.  Folly I say!  Folly all!!!

Let me lend my two cents, and I hope it's worth that much.  Friends, those of you who know the Holy Bible are aware the Jesus said that NO MAN WILL KNOW THE TIME.  That I truly believe!  It is arrogant of anyone to (1) Claim they have any clue as to when, if there is a when, the existence of our beloved planet Earth will come to its final end, or when Jesus returns to take His believers home, or when the planet is transformed into Heaven or light or whatever God has planned; and (2) to even begin to TRY to predict it.

I love the Old Testament story of the tree of knowledge.  I believe that the forbidden fruit was this: the things that humandkind cannot fathom, has no business knowing or meddling in!  Those things that are the domain and dominion of the Creator, of God.  Things that we could only screw up or mess our own existence up with if we were privvy to them.  And friends, knowledge of our end time would certainly wreak havoc upon this world.  Think about it.  I don't even have to elaborate.  Just imagine that if tomorrow the voice of God was heard around the world saying, "You have 2 years, 7 days and 6 hours, then people, I'm cleaning house!"  What do you think would happen? 

Leave it alone folks!  Live for today.  How we got here and where we are going is God's alone to know, and for darned good reasons.  I truly believe He wants us to live our lives the best we can in the time frame of our lives as we know them.  Be your best.  Live your best.  Serve others.  Remember, Jesus came not to be a king, but to be a servant.  Follow that example.  Live humbly, yet live large.  Take in the beauty and wonder of life.  Enjoy the senses God gave you, but don't be piggish in your indulgence.  Savor.  Love and love more.  Embrace your family and your good friends.  Love what you do, and let what you do honor God and be a blessing in this world.  Stop worrying, stop fretting, slow down, calm down, and be amazed and grateful that you have been given this incredilbe life, and this incredible world and universe, to play in.

The END and the BEGINNING are not ours.  We have no idea how all this got here, how God (the most current word for our Source of existence) brought it and us into being, and we will never know what the final outcome is to be.  Maybe there is none.  We just keep changing and evolving, growing, experiencing.  Maybe in His plan we become something totally different.  We could become light beings, as many believe, and we could take other forms in other worlds...who knows?  What is Heaven?  Fellow Christians all have their ideas, but none of us really know.  Hindus, Buddists, Moslems, they all have their concepts.  All lean toward the limited perceptions and desires of human beings, and God is not human!  Have faith, trust in God's wisdom.  After all, he created YOU.  That's pretty amazing!!!  Stop trying to second guess the Creator, you CAN'T do it!  And, didn't he warn you against it?  He planted curiosity in you and knows you'll try anyway, but I think that's for His amusement.  I bet He just laughs at us when we try to guess.  "Hey, how many fingers do I have raised behind my back?  Tee hee, you're all right, you're all wrong.  Because I keep changing them to my delight.  So stop guessing kids and go outside and PLAY!  Love, your Father."
